EOcean is a global EO initiative working collaboratively to address United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal Number 14: Life Below Water - Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
EO Sydney member and founder of Oceanlovers & Basic Bananas Marketing Mentoring Franziska Iseli started this initiative to provide EO members around the globe with the motivation and tools to create positive ripple effects.
During the month of September EO chapters from around the world are invited to join us to clean up waterways and beaches (anywhere really!). Together we believe we can make a difference and teach our younger generations just how precious our planet is (in fact, they often teach us!).
How can you get involved? We’d love to have as many chapters and EO members and their families involved as possible! There are two ways you can get involved:
1. EOcean Chapter Event: During the month of September, organise an EOcean clean-up event with your chapter. This can be as low-key as you wish; getting your conscious EO members and their families together to clean up an area for an hour or so… or make it a bigger event by inviting a speaker on sustainability, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, a not-for-profit organisation etc.
2. EOcean Member Event: You are also welcome to organise your own clean-up with your team and family. They are super fun and a great way to bring your team, family & friends together for an impactful activity. Everyone will feel better for it!

Did you know?
80% of all marine pollution comes directly from the land. Every decade, the global production of plastic doubles; each day, around 3,5 million pieces of plastic wash into the sea.
There is an estimated 270.000 tons of plastic floating in the ocean; many of the plastic debris get stuck in sea animals’ intestines since some mistake plastic for food, others get tangled in it.
By 2050, almost every individual seabird on the planet will have plastic in its body.
In addition to trying to come up with inventive and eco-viable ways to clean up the garbage already existing in the ocean, it’s important to stop the crisis in its tracks: on the beach.
Even though it can seem intimidating, every little action helps. From minimising plastic waste to picking up trash, we can all make an impact together.
What can you do to help?
Go plastic-free as often as you can - like reusable water bottles, grocery bags and coffee cups.
Recycle and Reuse - reinvent where you can - it’s fun too!
Use eco-friendly and non-toxic products - everything you put down the drain ends up in the ocean!
Eat responsibly - Minimise animal products where possible. Animal agriculture is the leading cause of GreenHouse emissions.
Reduce your carbon footprint - walk, ride or use public transport!
Pick up litter along the way - every little bit helps!
Learn, grow and share - keep learning and teach young ones how to care for our planet!
How do I get involved?
There are two ways you can be involved:
EOcean Day events:
Join us for our family fun EOcean Day events. You and your family members
will receive your EOcean cleanup packs onsite at the event.
Register online to receive your packs and clean up your local LGA:
Join us from afar. You will receive your EOcean cleanup packs via mail and use them to clean up
the waterways in your local LGA - because every little bit helps!
On The Day
EOcean supply pack includes:
